Check what is in the house
If you look in your bathroom cabinets and drawers, you will find unopened creams, lip balms, and shampoo bottles. Empty them before buying new ones. We miss a lot by not looking what we already have available to us, you will be surprised as to how much you can do with what you already have in your house.
Food is expensive, and eating alone costs more than eating with others. So throw a party with your girlfriends or invite them to a cheap dinner.
Bonus info: Agree to only use a certain amount so there are no expectations… And rejoice that you save money while keeping up with each other’s lives.
Cancel the gym Membership
We all have expensive memberships that we only use once a week. It’s even harder to get a date with the step machine in the center when the weather gets nicer. Decide to run, swim, or use outdoor exercise machines during the summer.
Bonus: You can still exercise while saving hundreds of dollars per month by watching free exercise videos online.
Do you shop for impulses with your friends, or do you get a sugar rush as soon as you see the cake shelf in a great store? Then leave the cards at home. Withdraw cash and only bring what you can afford.
The same trick works for city trips… It must end with a hangover and no money for pizza because you gave way yesterday!
Lend to Yourself and Others
Do you really need a VHS player to watch the latest Hunger Games or make waffles for your girlfriend’s dinner? Rather than buying equipment you may only use once or twice, lend yourself to what you lack. Ask for help on Facebook or ask your friends. Maybe you can lend them something in return.
Look for items that others can enjoy in your basement room. Do you have an old lamp, a book collection, or clothes lying around? Then sell it! It only takes a minute to snap a photo and text. You will be amazed at what is sold on these websites, and the buyer often comes by the next day with cash to spend on groceries or something more luxuriant!
For extra savings, buy used items online yourself if you’re missing something specific that doesn’t hurt from having belonged to someone else before.
Make a Shopping List
Instead of deciding what to eat in the supermarket, plan your shopping at home. Making a shopping list ensures that you only buy what you need, saving you hundreds of dollars every week by avoiding impulse buys like strawberries, flowers, or cookies.
Inform your girlfriends that you are currently trying to save money. Takeout and shopping often become a habit rather than a choice. That way, others will cook at home and watch Netflix instead of eating out and then going to the movies. That way you can all relax and have fun. (More money for sweets!)
Make saving money a joint project when you’re together. Set a goal to achieve with the money you would have spent on takeout and shopping. It could be a friend’s vacation or a festival you’ve always wanted to attend.
